Clementine Art

Everyone knows that art can be messy.  Paint gets on clothes, fingers, hair, and more!  But what is it made of?  Is it toxic?  Crayola says they are non-toxic, but considers their ingredients to be proprietary information.  One of my friends recently asked me if I knew anything about natural art supplies.  I did some searching and found Clementine Art.  They agreed to let us try out their paints.  They also disclose their ingredients right on the box.  and here.

Luckily I had two willing testers.

The natural paint comes in a set of six colors.  (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple)  It worked well to put a bit of paint in the lid and let the girls use that to dip their brushes in.  The paint went a long way and although the jars are small, we have plenty left for future masterpieces.

Here is Julia's artwork.

Lucy painted the world, and a giraffe.

I experimented with the paint a bit and found it fun to work with.  The paint is creamy and smooth, not too thick or lumpy.  The blue and purple were both dark and looked pretty similar, especially in the jars.  This made it hard to Lucy and Julia to decide what color they wanted.  Otherwise the colors are gorgeous and show up well on the paper.

Clementine Art is a green company, using post consumer recycled and reusable materials.  We enjoyed using natural, safe paints and will definitely try more Clementine Art products in the future.  Their gift set would make a great birthday or Christmas gift for any little artist.  For more fun art project ideas check out their blog.

Thanks Clementine Art for providing us the paint for review!

  1. Aw - cute stuff! So this is very random and very embarrassingly late...I don't "think" I ever told you this, but I passed on an award to you back in June. I got busy and forgot about it. And if I did already tell you and then just forgot that I already told you, that might be worse :0 ha!

  3. I found you from the blog roll. I had to smile at your picture. I can't help myself from doing the art with them. I have a ton of my own pictures. Sometimes I photo copy a workpage that needs to be colored, so that I have one. I do it for 2 reasons. 1st, I like to color. 2nd, often times it takes me coloring it, for her to get interested.
