Costco sells a large 1 liter bottle of organic lemon juice (not from concentrate) for only 3.89. We enjoy having lemonade on hand, but I don't always want to make up a big batch of it. We found the perfect solution - freeze the lemon juice in ice cube trays.
To make a glass of lemonade, simply pop a lemon cube in a glass of water and add two spoonfuls of sugar. The lemon melts rapidly and this makes a perfect anytime glass of lemonade! I also don't have to worry about the lemon concentrate going bad this way.
The cubes are often the perfect size to add to recipes as well. One cube works nicely in my Blueberry Oat Bars. :)

You're killing me. First lemonaid then blueberry oat bars! You're making me hungry!lol
ReplyDeleteGenius! And I'm headed to CostCo this weekend, perfect timing :)
ReplyDeleteWe do this all the time too! But I use honey instead of sugar. My daughter loves it. I fill her sippy cup with water and add a touch of honey and organic lemon juice. And shake it up. Simple. But what makes it even better is when we add fresh berries (blueberries, strawberreis, raspberries) and smoosh them a little. She thinks it's the greatest thing ever. Mixed berry lemonade. A great way to get her to drink more water.

Which section of Costco?? I've never seen this... but then, we usually skip the juices/drinks section... is it there?? :)
ReplyDeleteTammy, its not by the drinks, more in the cooking aisles I think? Or by the spaghetti sauce and canned things? I still can't find a few things that other people post about either, Costcos must vary a bit.
ReplyDeleteI was just wondering what to do if I came across a big bag of lemons. Now I know I can freeze them in small portions! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWhat a super tip!! I am going to dig my ice cube trays out of the closet (I have an ice maker). I absolutely love this. It's hard to keep up with drinks in the refrigerator. We drink a lot of iced tea, but lemonade is a treat.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great Christy! It would be perfect to add to a glass of ice tea also. Thanks for the idea!
ReplyDeleteThis IS a great tip! :) Now, to buy some ice cube trays!
