Clementine Art

Everyone knows that art can be messy.  Paint gets on clothes, fingers, hair, and more!  But what is it made of?  Is it toxic?  Crayola says they are non-toxic, but considers their ingredients to be proprietary information.  One of my friends recently asked me if I knew anything about natural art supplies.  I did some searching and found Clementine Art.  They agreed to let us try out their paints.  They also disclose their ingredients right on the box.  and here.

Luckily I had two willing testers.

The natural paint comes in a set of six colors.  (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple)  It worked well to put a bit of paint in the lid and let the girls use that to dip their brushes in.  The paint went a long way and although the jars are small, we have plenty left for future masterpieces.

Lucy painted the world, and a giraffe.  

I experimented with the paint a bit and found it fun to work with.  The paint is creamy and smooth, not too thick or lumpy.  The blue and purple were both dark and looked pretty similar, especially in the jars.  This made it hard to Lucy and Julia to decide what color they wanted.  Otherwise the colors are gorgeous and show up well on the paper.

Clementine Art is a green company, using post consumer recycled and reusable materials.  We enjoyed using natural, safe paints and will definitely try more Clementine Art products in the future.  Their gift set would make a great birthday or Christmas gift for any little artist.  For more fun art project ideas check out their blog.
