I've heard good things about Rockin Green Laundy Soap and decided to try it out. Now, some of their ingredients aren't completely favorable on the Cosmetics Database either. Rockin' Green's ingredient list is shorter and although I'm not a chemicals expert, it does seem like a better choice. (sodium carbonate, sodium percarbonate, natural chelating agents, sodium sulfate, biodegradable surfactants, natural fragrance oils (if scented is chosen)) Many other natural detergents aren't safe for cloth diapers because they are too soapy. I've looked at homemade detergent recipes, but they often contain Borax, which I'm a bit leery of. For now we are going with this.
I received two sample packets to try. My diapers were completely stink free after a good soak in Rockin' Green. You can see in the photo that the rinse water is pretty clear as well. I usually do a rinse, hot wash/ cold rinse with Purex, and then another hot wash/ cold rinse with no detergent. With Rockin' Green I'm doing an initial rinse, hot wash/ cold rinse with the laundry soap, and then another rinse. (eliminating the second hot wash) With Purex the diapers would have a lingering stink at times, and I think the Rockin' Green soak was great for stripping any leftover smell. I've only used this a couple of times but I did just order some more. I'm not sure yet if we'll use this on all of our laundry or if that would cost too much. There are some natural laundry soaps at Meijer that I'm going to look at for our regular laundry.
Would you like to try this out? Rockin' Green is giving away a 45/90 bag in your choice of formula and scent. To enter the giveaway let me know what detergent you currently use on your cloth diapers (or laundry) and if you like it or not. I'll close the giveaway in two weeks on June 3rd at midnight. For extra entries follow my blog and/ or be a confirmed email subscriber. Leave a comment for each extra entry with a total of three entries possible. Be sure that you include your email or have it listed on your profile. If you're interested in placing an order you can use the code "onelittle" for 10% off.

I use the Ecostore USA and it works great, but am suspecting that the plant based formula is irritating our skin.
ReplyDeleteSince I'm starting out on cloth diapering I do need to find something to prevent any residue build up.
I am following.

ReplyDeleteWe used Purex Free and Clear too and then I ran out of that and switched to soap nuts. I love the soap nuts. Have not had a single issue with them!

I recently had someone suggest I try Rockin' Green because we were having such awful stink issues that my pregnant self couldn't even handle CDing. Until we get it figured out, we're using 7th Generation sposies. :( I really want to get back to our cloth, it'd be great if this worked! We've tried other WAHM diaper soap to no avail. Most recently we were using Tide(awful, I know).

ReplyDeletei have used arm and hammer free for our cloth diapers and like it. my good friend recently started using castile soap on her diapers and raves about it so i plan to give it a try as well. i have heard great things about rockin' green and would be thrilled to win- we often have lingering stink issues too, so something to get rid of that would be wonderful :)

ReplyDeleteI just got a couple rng samples, the first load is going right now. Right now we are using planet with biokleen bac-out in the first rinse. This combo worked great in our top loader, but we are getting a little stink with the he front loader. Hoping the rng will do the trick!

ReplyDeleteI use Soap Nuts. Like them but some stains do not go away. Would love to try Rockin Green.
ReplyDeleteI use Clorox Green Works for our diapers. Love it, though it's pricey so I only buy when I have coupons on top of a sale.

I currently use Allen's Naturally on my cloth diapers and baby clothes (and I've liked that a lot). For our other laundry, I bought some Arm & Hammer (because I had a coupon) and I hate it. It has such a strong smell that it's overpowering. I hate that I have a big jug of it now; I'll never, ever do that again. I think after this jug is finished, I'm going to use a natural detergent on all my clothes; even if I have to pay the extra for shipping.

I use various scents of Snuggle, though my skin is very sensitive to fragrances, so I frequently have to cute the amount.

ReplyDeleteI was using Amway SA8 on my regular laundry and loved it (one box lasted a whole year!), but now we have an HE washer, so I'm trying new detergents. I have Tide and GreenWorks to go through right now. I'd love to try the Rockin' Green. :) I'd also love to know what kind of washers the people who are using the SoapNuts have.

I currently use All free and clear, vinegar, and baking soda to wash my diapers in. I'm looking for something that doesn't require me to run the washer 5 times to get the smell out of the diapers.

ReplyDeleteWe use Planet detergent on our cloth diapers and I guess I like it okay. I'm not overly excited about it, but it gets the job done. Now that some of our diapers have been in rotation for just over a year, I feel like they are picking up a bit of a residual odor that the Planet isn't doing a good job of eliminating. We strip from time to time but it's such a hassle. I have heard so many great things about Rockin' Green and I'd really like to see what kind of magic it could work for us! :-)

I'm using Vaska and I like it pretty well. It's a little herby/lavendar smelling (even though it's fragrance-free) but it seems to clean well!
